Are you working on what really counts?
Individual growth is necessary to meet the changing demands of our roles in times of complexity and uncertainty. My observation is that most efforts to help people in organisations grow and change are well-meaning but not nearly as targeted or effective as they could be.
It’s not common to see someone identify the most important growth goal that, if addressed, would really shift the dial on performance or help them realise their potential. It’s rarer still to see it addressed with attention to the real issue holding them back - the ‘below the surface’ barrier to change.
Allow me to suggest an alternative to what might be on your well-meaning but dusty development plan: targeted, deep, and effective work on *just one* personal growth objective, carefully linked to the most important business outcome you need to achieve. Insights that are actionable and tested on the job. Seeing real change in yourself and building on it daily.
This kind of work can be done through individual coaching or as a team, lining each person’s growth objective up to a collective goal.
Isn’t it about time to do something different for yourself or your team?
