Debunking the myth that you just need more willpower

What’s that thing that, if it were to improve, would make you significantly more effective, or closer to being the very best version of yourself? That thing that has proven resistant to that well-intentioned development plan, the courses, new year's resolutions, the habit-change apps, the Ted Talks, etc?

This podcast features both the theory and practice of Immunity to Change. It’s a powerful approach to understanding our ‘stuckness’ when it comes to those things we sincerely want to change in ourselves, and yet just can’t seem to progress.

It debunks the myth that we just don’t want it enough, or aren’t disciplined enough, and instead helps us see ourselves as the complex, wonderful creatures we are - creatures with competing commitments that lie beneath the surface, producing the counterproductive behaviours that keep us from reaching the very goal we are sincerely committed to.

For many - and for me - this perspective has been revelatory. And it is a huge privilege to support others individually and in teams to use this as a catalyst for real change.

My thanks to Lisa Lahey (how amazing is she in this podcast?!), Robert Kegan, and Deborah Helsing, EdD for developing and sharing this wonderful work through Minds at Work.

Have a listen (part 1 and part 2) and let’s talk about digging deeper on a change that’s important to you.
